Mutton Dal Gosht


Mutton and Dal curry with East Indian bottle masala. A childhood favourite and still is , just needs some kadak pao

Used Red Masoor dal ,a mix of dals can also be used.



Ingredients

500 gms mutton pieces

cleaned and washed well

Marinate the mutton with

1 tsp Ginger garlic paste

1/2 tsp chili powder

1 tsp East Indian bottle masala

salt to taste

Keep for an hour.


Ingredients

for the ground paste

2 spicy green chilies

1 onion sliced

1/4 tsp chili powder

1/2 tsp garam masala powder

1 tsp Ginger garlic paste

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

 grind the above to a paste with some amount of water.


Ingredients

2 onions finely chopped

3 medium size tomatoes finely chopped

1 chicken stock cube

2 tbsp East Indian bottle masala

1/2 cup hot water

300 ml water

250 gms Red Masoor dal

wash well , soak for an hour , then bring to a boil adding just enough water.


Method

To a pressure cooker add 3 tbsp ghee, once hot add the finely chopped onions and stir fry till lightly brown



. Then add the chopped tomatoes and 1/2 cup water , cook till tomatoes are done . At this stage add the stock cube and mix well.

Now add the ground paste and stir fry for 1/2 a minute. Add the bottle masala and stir fry.

Then add the mutton pieces and stir fry.

Now add the 300 ml water . Pressure cook on High, first whistle then on low flame for 10 mins.

Once the steam is released , Add this cooked mutton curry to a vessel. Add the cooked dal and mix well. Turn on the flame ,adjust the salt.

 Cook for 5 mins on low flame.

For the tadka

take a small vessel add a tbsp ghee ,few mustard seeds, few curry leaves and 1 red kashmiri chilli. Once it starts to splutter add to the mutton dal gosht . Lastly add finely chopped coriander leaves.
