Meat balls in a rich  tomato - based gravy

Indulge in comforting flavours of rich , slightly tangy tomato based gravy and tender juicy meatballs infused with aromatic spices . Simple, yet truly satisfying , this dish pairs well with pasta , pulao, crusty garlic bread or spaghetti.



Ingredients

500 grams of chicken mince

1/2 cup mint leaves finely chopped

1/2 cup coriander leaves finely chopped

2 green chillies finely chopped

100 grams onions finely chopped

Salt to taste

1/2 cup bread crumbs

1 egg

2 tsp ginger garlic paste


Spice powder

1 tsp coriander powder

1/2 tsp cumin powder

1/2 tsp pepper powder

1/4 tsp chill powder


Method

Step 1

Heat up a pan with oil, sauté the Onions until they turn translucent. Add in the green chillies, spice powders, ginger garlic paste and stir fry. Add the finely chopped coriander leaves and mint leaves and mix well. Keep aside to cool.



Step 2

Add the stir fried onions mix to the chicken mince . Add in the egg , salt and breadcrumbs. Mix thoroughly and form into small balls. Shallow fry these chicken meat balls , keep aside when done.


For the gravy

Ingredients

3 tomatoes, puree the tomatoes and keep aside

4 to 6 tablespoons of ready to use pizza / pasta sauce

1 tablespoon of dry oregano

1 tablespoon of dry basil

1/4 cup of finely chopped coriander leaves


Spice powder

1 teaspoon of coriander powder

1 and 1/2 teaspoon of chilli powder or according to taste

1/2 teaspoon of cumin powder

1/2 teaspoon of pepper powder

1/2 teaspoon of garam masala powder



Method

Step 1

Heat up some oil and butter in the pan. Add the tomato puree and 1 cup water and allow to cook for a minute. Add the spice powders and dry herbs . Mix thoroughly and cook for a minute.


Step 2

Add the ready to use Pizza/ pasta sauce and 2 cups water and allow to cook for 2 minutes. Add the chicken meat balls and cook for 15 minutes on low flame, stirring occasionally. Finally add the finely chopped coriander leaves.
