It’s hearty, nutritious, and perfect for a wholesome lunch or dinner. The addition of barbecue and Worcestershire sauce adds a subtle depth that elevates the dish beautifully. Serve it with soft dinner rolls, rice, or even a fresh salad on the side.

Ingredients

For the Chicken Mince:

1 kg chicken mince

100 grams green peas

4 carrots, finely chopped

1 tsp dry mixed herbs

Salt to taste

For the Ground Masala:

8–9 dry Kashmiri chillies

1 tsp cumin seeds

1 tsp peppercorns

½ tsp garam masala powder (or cuddi powder)

¼ tsp turmeric powder

1 tbsp ginger garlic paste

1 onion, sliced

To Prepare:

Grind all the above ingredients into a fine paste using just enough water. Set aside.

For the Gravy Base:

4 medium onions, finely chopped

4 medium tomatoes, finely chopped

2 tbsp barbecue sauce

1½ tsp Worcestershire sauce

Method

1. Sauté the Base:

Heat oil in a large pan. Add the finely chopped onions and sauté until lightly golden brown. Add the tomatoes and cook until soft and completely broken down.

2. Cook the Masala:

Add the prepared ground masala to the pan and sauté for at least 2 minutes to allow the flavours to release.

3. Add the Mince:

Stir in the chicken mince and cook for about 2 minutes. Then add 1 cup of water, mix well, and simmer for 10 minutes.

4. Add the Vegetables:

Add the green peas and chopped carrots. Cover and cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are tender and the mince is well-cooked.

5. Final Seasoning:

Add the Worcestershire sauce, barbecue sauce, and dry mixed herbs. Stir everything together and cook for another few minutes until well combined and aromatic.

Serving Suggestion:

Enjoy this flavourful chicken mince with warm pav, buttered toast, or a bowl of steamed rice for a satisfying meal.
