Black Eye Beans Curry

This Black Eyed Beans Curry is a flavourful dish , The addition of Parsi Dhansak masala brings a unique depth of flavour, blending with spices like coriander, cumin, and turmeric to create a rich and aromatic curry.


Ingredients

250 grams of black eyed Beans/ chawli

Soak for 6 hours , pressure cook with just enough water and salt to taste . Pressure cook with just 2 whistles.

Ingredients

2 medium size onions finely chopped

2 medium size finely chopped tomatoes

3 green chillies finely chopped

1/4 cup finely chopped coriander leaves

2 teaspoons of ginger garlic paste

1 teaspoon of lime juice

Salt to taste

Spice powders

2 teaspoons of Parsi Dhansak masala powder

1 teaspoon of coriander powder

1/2 teaspoon of cumin powder

1/4 teaspoon of pepper powder

1/4 teaspoon of chilli powder or according to taste

1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder

Method

Step 1

Heat up some oil in a vessel. Once hot add the finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn lightly brown.

Step 2

Add the finely chopped tomatoes, 1/2 cup warm water and green chillies and stir fry until the tomatoes turn soft and done.

Step 3

Now , add in the ginger garlic paste and give it a stir. Incorporate the spice powders and stir fry. Add 1/4 cup warm water and allow to cook for 2 minutes on medium flame, stirring occasionally.

Step 4

Add the boiled chawli and mix well. Allow to cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Only if required add salt.

Finally, add the finely chopped coriander leaves and mix well. Add 1 teaspoon of lime juice.
