Vatana curry



Ingredients


200 gms vatana (dried white peas) soak previous night . then wash well.


add enough water to the pressure cooker, add the vatanas , salt. Pressure cook on high for 1 whistle, then low for two whistle.


reserve the water of the cooked vatanas



Grind to paste


1/2 cup Coriander leaves


few mint leaves


1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste


1 onion



ingredients 2


2 onions finely chopped


1 tomato finely chopped


2 tsp chilli powder


1/2 tsp cumin powder


1/4 tsp turmeric powder


Salt to taste


1 cup thick coconut milk


reserve the water of the cooked vatanas ( dried white Peas)



Method


Heat up some oil , stir fry the finely chopped onions till lightly browned. Add the finely chopped tomatoes and some of the reserved cooked vatana water. Allow to cook till tomatoes are soft.


Add the ground green paste and stir fry for a minute.Now add the chilli powder, cumin powder and turmeric powder.


Mix well. and stir fry for a minute. Add some of the reserved water and the cooked vatanas , add salt to taste.


Cook for 10 mins on medium flame. Lastly


add 1 cup thick coconut milk
