Turai / Ridge Gourd with Dill leaves

This  recipe combines the mild, tender flavors of ridge gourd (turai) with the aromatic freshness of dill leaves. Infused with a homemade curry powder and enriched with creamy coconut milk. Perfect for a light yet flavorful meal, this recipe is both nutritious and easy to prepare .


2 onions finely chopped

3  dry bedgi chillies

1 teaspoon of Homemade curry powder ( recipe mentioned in the link below)

1/2 teaspoon of chilli powder

1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder

1/4 cup dill leaves finely chopped

200 ml Coconut milk

600 grams turai ( Ridge Gourd), clean and chopped into pieces

1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste

Salt to taste


Step 1

Heat up oil in a pan, saute the dry bedgi chillies and onions. Cook the onions until they turn lightly brown. Add in the ginger garlic paste and give it a stir.

Step 2

Add the ridge gourd and mix thoroughly. Season with salt to taste and  cook till almost done.

Step 3

Add in 1 teaspoon of the homemade curry powder ( recipe link mentioned above) , turmeric powder , chilli powder and the dill leaves.  Cook until the ridge gourd  is fully done.

Step 4

Add the coconut milk and cook for an additional  2 minutes.
