Steamed Modaks are also called Ukadiche Modak. The filling consist of freshly grated coconut and jaggery . The outer shell is made from rice flour .
Modaks
Ingredients 1 1/2 coconut scraped 1/2 cup jaggery powder 1/4 cup raisins 1tsp cardamom powder
Method Cook on low flame for 5 mins stirring continuously. allow to cool.
Ingredients 2 4 cups water tsp of oil salt 3 cups Rice flour
Method Bring the water to a boil along with salt and oil. Add the rice flour.. Mix well on low flame switch gas off. Cover with lid . keep for 10 mins. Once lukewarm or able to handle. Start kneading and bringing the dough together by adding some lukewarm water to the flour. make it into a firm soft smooth dough , not too soft.
Method Using of the Mould Wet your finger tips, Take some dough apply to all three sides of the mould one at a close the mould tightly . After closing the mould make the middle portion nice and hollow pressing with finger tips on the inside of the mould and smoothing out the dough Then fill with coconut jaggery filling .Seal the bottom part with dough well.
Steam the modaks for 12 mins.
