This recipe is for a traditional Indian sweet, Modak, made with milk, cashew nuts, and mawa (milk solids). Modaks are often prepared during festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi and are loved for their delicate sweetness and soft texture. This version uses simple ingredients and careful stirring to create a delightful and delicious treat.
Ingredients
1/2 litre full cream milk
125 grams sugar powdered
1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
50 grams cashew nuts ground to powder
1/2 teaspoon clarified butter / ghee
125 grams mawa / milk solids
Method
1:
Heat the milk on a very low flame till it comes to a boil. Keep stirring the milk for 15 to 20 minutes. Add the powdered sugar and continuously stir on medium flame till you almost reach condensed milk consistency ( time taken to almost reach condensed milk consistency 20 minutes).

Then on low flame add the cashew nuts powder and stir well. Add the cardamom powder and Mawa . Continue stirring on low flame till it leaves it starts to leave the sides.

Once it starts to leave the sides add 1/2 teaspoon clarified butter and mix well.
Keep stirring till it leaves the sides and forms into a ball.

Put off the fire and spread evenly on a well greased tray.
Once cool use Modak moulds to form the shapes.
Total pieces 6 big size modaks and 9 small size modaks
For the small modaks used chocolate modak moulds.
Total time duration for cooking process
1 and 1/2 hr.
