Chilli Con Carne

A wonderful chilli, minced meat and beans recipe. Here I have given this recipe a slight Indian touch to it.

Ingredients 1

500 gms chicken mince

150 gms Pinto beans or Red kidney beans

( I have used Pinto beans)

Soak the beans for at least 6 to 7 hrs. Pressure cook on high for 5 whistle)

Reserve the stock for further use

Ingredients 2

For the ground masala

4 kashmiri chillies

1 tsp coriander seeds

1/2 tsp cumin seeds

1/2 tsp pepper corn

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

2 tsp ginger garlic paste

1 onion sliced

Grind the above to a smooth paste adding just enough water.

Ingredients 3

3 onions finely chopped

4 tomatoes Pureed

2 green chillies finely chopped

1/2 cup coriander leaves finely chopped

Salt to taste


Once oil is hot , saute the finely chopped onions to translucent. Add the finely chopped green chillies and stir fry. Add the chicken mince and stir fry well .

Once the mince is stir fried well , add the ground masala, mix well and stir fry . Add the tomato puree and 2 cups of the reserved beans stock. Add salt to taste and cook for 15 minutes.

After 15 minutes add the cooked Pinto beans , finely chopped coriander leaves and 1 tsp apple cider vinegar. Cook for another 15 to 20 minutes.

Ps : if adding lemon / lime juice add it after 15 to 20 mins.
