Chicken Moilee

A delicious Curry from Kerala. A very simple, mild flavourful curry.

Can be made with chicken , fish or Prawns


Here is my version of the Chicken Moilee


Ingredients


For the marination of the chicken


500 gms chicken pieces

1 tsp pepper corn

1 tsp Ginger garlic paste

2 green chillies


Grind to a paste , marinate the chicken with this paste and keep for an hour.


Ingredients 2


1 inch ginger finely chopped

8 cloves finely chopped

1/2 inch cinnamon

4 cloves

3 cardamom

1 bay leaf


1 tsp pepper powder

1/2 tsp cumin powder

1/2 tsp garam masala powder

1/4 tsp turmeric powder


200 ml coconut milk

2 green chillies

Few curry leaves

2 onion finely chopped

1 tomato chopped

600 ml water


Method


Heat up some oil, add the curry leaves , bay leaf ,cloves, cardamom and cinnamon.

Once it starts to splutter add the finely chopped ginger, garlic and green chillies, stir fry for a 1/2 minute.

Then add the finely chopped onions and stir fry till lightly brown. Add the finely chopped tomatoes and cook till soft adding very little water ,which helps in cooking . Once the tomatoes are soft add the marinated chicken pieces and stir fry. Then add cumin powder, pepper powder , turmeric powder and garam masala powder ,stir fry .

Add the 600 ml water and allow to come to a boil. When the chicken is done

Lastly add the coconut milk.


Garnish with a tbsp of finely coriander leaves.
