Beef Fry / Roast Beef

A flavour-packed, tender beef dish with bold spices and a delicious stir-fried finish. Perfect for a hearty family meal.
Ingredients
For the Beef Preparation
1 kg beef steaks
1 tbsp salt
2 tbsp vinegar (for cleaning)
Preparation of Beef
Clean and wash the beef steaks well.
Rub with salt and vinegar, set aside for 30 minutes.
Wash thoroughly again and drain well.
Place steaks between two cling film sheets on a board.
Using a mallet, gently tenderise the meat.
Set aside.
For the Marinade
1½ tsp cumin seeds
1½ tsp peppercorns
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
½ tsp turmeric powder
8 cloves
2-inch cinnamon stick
10–12 green chillies
½ cup water
1½ tsp vinegar
1½ tsp oil
Salt to taste
Method:
Lightly dry roast cumin seeds, peppercorns, and cinnamon.
Add to the remaining ingredients.
Grind into a smooth paste.
Marination
Coat the beef steaks well with the ground paste.
Marinate for atleast 2 hours or overnight
Cooking the Beef
Transfer marinated steaks to a pressure cooker.
Add just enough water.
Cook on high for 1 whistle, then on low for 5–7 minutes.
Drain and reserve the stock.
For the Stir Fry
1 yellow bell pepper (roughly chopped)
4 dried Kashmiri chillies (fried and broken)
2 tomatoes (roughly chopped)
Oil for frying
Method:
Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the steaks until they turn lightly brown Remove and set aside.
In the same pan, add dried chillies and sauté.
Add bell peppers and sauté.
Add tomatoes and cook till slightly soft.
Return the beef to the pan.
Add just enough of the reserved stock.
Cover and cook till the stock is absorbed and flavours come together.
Serving Suggestion
Serve hot with:

Creamy mashed potatoes
