Rum Balls And Chocolate Dates

Quick easy and delicious rum ball and chocolate date recipe.



Ingredients

200 gms dark chocolate CH D 45

Using a double boiler method melt the chocolate

Or melt in a microwave

Double boiler method: A large vessel is filled with water and heated up. A smaller pot is placed on top of the large vessel. With the help of the steam , the chocolate starts to melt)

Rum balls

200 gms Chocolate cake

Crumble the cake into fine pieces using your hand ( crumb texture).

You can also go for a good rich fruit cake


If using a rich fruit cake ,omit the raisins or tutti fruiti.

2 tsp orange marmalade

1/4 cup tutti fruiti or raisins chopped fine

2 tsp rum

Method

In a bowl , add the cake crumbs , marmalade, finely chopped raisins or tutti fruiti and the rum . Mix well and form into balls . Place on a foil.

Ingredients 2

Melt 100 gms chocolate , once the chocolate has melted add 2 tsp sifted icing sugar

And whisk gently using a hand whisk.

Method

Place the stainless steel grill/ cooling grill on a tray. Coat the balls with the melted chocolate and place on a stainless steel grill / cooling grill for excess chocolate to drip. You can top with colourful Sprinkles.

Refrigerate for a few hours.

Chocolate Dates

For the chocolate Dates

10 dates

10 to 20 Almonds depending on the size of the dates as well as the almonds.

100 gms dark compound chocolate for coating.

Method

Follow the same procedure for melting the chocolate.

Deseed the dates gently by making a slit in the centre. Place the almonds into the date and seal well.

Place the stainless steel grill/ cooling grill on a tray. Coat the dates with the melted chocolate and place on a stainless steel grill / cooling grill for excess chocolate to drip.

Refrigerate for a few hours.
