Nankhaties , rich, buttery, and melt in the mouth . Christmas treats, or a comforting tea-time snack. Keep them plain or add colours and toppings to make them more festive.
Ingredients
2 cups maida
1 cup melted ghee (clarified butter)
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence
½ tsp baking powder
A pinch of salt
Sprinkles / tutti frutti / silver beads (optional)
Method
Sift the maida and baking powder together into a bowl.
Add powdered sugar and salt; mix well.
Gradually add the melted ghee along with vanilla essence and mix to form a soft dough. Do not over-knead.
Shape the dough into small balls and place them on a baking tray.
Gently press and decorate with sprinkles, tutti frutti, or silver beads.
Refrigerate the shaped cookies for 30 minutes.
Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C until the underside is lightly browned.
Cool completely before storing.
PS
You may add gel colours of your choice or keep the cookies plain.
