Brown Channa Pulao

A quick brown channa pulao with green masala served with raita and papad.



INGREDIENTS

2 medium size onions sliced


for the green masala

100 gms coriander leaves

20 gms mint leaves

1 spicy green chili

grind to a paste


150 gms brown channa soaked previous night.

then pressure cook on high for whistle then low for 20 to 25 mins.



1 tsp garam masala powder

1 tbsp coriander powder

1/2 tsp cumin powder

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

1 soup cube

1/2 tsp pepper powder

1 tbsp ginger garlic paste

2 cups basmati rice cooked till almost done ..drain out and keep.


METHOD

• Add oil to a non-stick pan. Once hot add the sliced onions and stir fry till brown. Then add the green masala , ginger garlic paste and stir fry for 1/2 a minute. Add the garam masala, coriander powder, cumin, turmeric and pepper powder. Mix well add a soup cube and very little amount of water and allow the masala to cook for a minute on low flame. Now add the boiled cooked brown channa and cook for another 1/2 minute.

Add lastly the rice and mix well. Adjust seasoning (salt) if required.

serve with raita and papad.
