Moong Dal Chillas{Yellow Split lentil crepes}

Chillas are Indian crepes made with lentils , chickpea flour with spices and herbs. These chillas are made with yellow split moong lentils and rice flour which are lightly spiced and served with a greeen coconut chutney.



Ingredients For the Chillas


350 gms Yellow split moong dal


200 gms raw rice


Wash the dal and rice well. Soak for at least 5 hrs.



Ingredients


4 green chillies


1/2 tsp coriander powder


1/4 tsp pepper powder


1/4 tsp cumin powder


1/4 tsp turmeric powder


Salt to taste



Method


Grind the dal With the spice powder, green chillies and salt to taste with just enough water and keep aside.Grind the rice well and mix with the ground dal well.



( I used 1 cup water to grind the dal and just 1/2 cup water to grind the rice)



For the chutney


6 green chillies


25 gms roasted peanuts


1/2 tsp cumin powder


1/4 tsp pepper powder


100 gms coriander leaves


Salt to taste


1/2 tsp sugar


Small ball of tamarind ( optional)


1/4 cup desiccated coconut



Grind all of this with just enough water to make a smooth ground chutney, add salt if required.


For the tadka ,heat up 1 tbsp oil add 2 red chillies ,once it starts to splutter add it to the chutney and mix well.
