Methi Paneer ( Cottage cheese With (Fresh)Fenugreek leaves.

A simple quick easy method paneer recipe.


500 gms Cottage cheese

Cut the paneer into cubes .

2 bunch Fenugreek leaves

Remove just the leaves and soak in water for 20 mins.

Wash well , pat dry.


2 onions sliced

3 tomatoes of medium size sliced

3 green chillies finely chopped or according to taste.

1 tbsp ginger garlic paste

1 tbsp dried Fenugreek leaves ( dried Kasuri methi)

15 cashew nuts


Add 2 tbsp clarified butter ( ghee) to a pan, once hot enough saute the sliced onions till lightly brown. Next add in the sliced tomatoes and cook till soft.

Add next the finely chopped green chillies, dried Fenugreek leaves and saute well.

Next add 2 cups of the fresh Fenugreek leaves and cook for 2 minutes , reserving the rest of the fresh Fenugreek leaves for later .

Allow to cool.

Next lightly roast the cashew nuts .

Once all the above is cooled ,grind to a paste adding just 1/2 cup water.

Remove and keep aside.

Ingredients ( spices)

1/2 tsp cumin powder

1/2 tsp pepper powder

1/2 tsp garam masala powder

Salt to taste


Add 2 tbsp clarified butter, shallow fry the paneer ( cottage cheese) lightly.

Remove and keep aside.

Next add the ground sauted mixture and 2 cup water.

Cook for 2 mins on medium flame.

Next add the roughly chopped reserved fresh Fenugreek leaves. Cook for a minute.

Add the cumin powder, pepper powder, garam masala powder and salt to taste.

Mix well. Lastly add the cottage cheese and cook for 2 mins.
