Gulkund And Cardamom Cake


Two Types of Tea Time cakes , Cardamon Cake and Gulkand Cake.Made two different cakes with same batter.Divided the batter into two .


Gulkand is a sweet preserve of rose petals . Gul means 'Rose 'and Kand means ' sweet'



Ingredients for the cake batter 200 gms plain flour (maida) 2 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp soda bicarbonate sift all the above together

200 gms butter (soft ,room temperature) 150 gms sugar, powder the sugar 2 tbsp Rose water 3 eggs


METHOD Using an electric mixer whisk the butter ,now add the powder sugar and mix again till creamy on level 1. Add one egg at a time and whisk well. Add in the sifted flour a tbsp at a time and start mixing with each addition. Add in the Rose water and mix well.

Divide the batter into two halves by weighing for the cardamom cake 300 gms and for Gulkand cake I took 400 gms



CARDAMOM CAKE

For the cardamom cake add in 1 tbsp Rose water , 2 tsp cardamom powder and 1 tsp Rose essence. Fold well into the batter of 300 gms using a spatula. line a small baking dish with parchment paper pour this batter into it. keep aside.


GULKAND CAKE For the Gulkand Cake Add in 1/2 tsp Rose essence 3 tbsp Gulkand baby pink gel colour which is optional fold this into the batter of 400 gms using a spatula Line a small baking dish with parchment paper pour this batter into the lined cake tin

Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degree for 30 to 35 mins or till done.



You can add a simple glaze on the cakes

using icing sugar, warm milk and Rose essence and a bit of colour for the Gulkand Cake.


And for the cardamom cake.

using icing sugar,warm milk, cardamom powder.

If you only want to make a cardamom cake.



For only a CARDAMOM CAKE

Ingredients for the cake batter 200 gms plain flour (maida) 2 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp soda bicarbonate sift all the above together

200 gms butter (soft ,room temperature) 150 gms sugar, powder the sugar 3 tbsp Rose water 3 eggs 2 1/2 tsp cardamom powder or 3 tsp

If you only want to make a Gulkand cake



For the GULKAND CAKE Ingredients for the cake batter 200 gms plain flour (maida) 2 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp soda bicarbonate sift all the above together

200 gms butter (soft ,room temperature) 150 gms sugar, powder the sugar 2 tbsp Rose water 3 eggs 1and 1/2 tsp Rose essnce 4 tbsp Gulkand
