Black Eye Beans In a Creamy Coconut Gravy {Caldin Masala}

The black eye beans are soaked in water previous night and then next morning pressure cooked for 1 whistle. Caldin masala is a mild curry paste consisting of coriander powder, cumin powder ,pepper powder and a small amount of garam masala is added to this spice mixture. The coconut mild gives it that lovely creamy texture and the green chillies gives it a slight hint of spice to this curry.




INGREDIENTS

100 chawli (pressure cook the chawli with enough water on high for 1 whistle then low for 1 whistle)


For the masala

1 tbsp corriander powder

1/2 tsp cumin powder

1/2 tsp pepper powder

1 tsp ginger garlic paste

1/2 tsp garam masala powder

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

Add little water and make into a paste


25 gms coconut milk powder dissolve in 1/2 cup lukewarm water

1 to 2 green chillies slit into 2 piece

Salt to taste

Few curry leaves

2 finely chopped onions


METHOD

Add oil to a vessel. Add few curry leaves . Then stir fry 2finely chopped onions till lightly browned.

Then add the ground paste and some water.Allow the masala to cook.

Add the chawli and mix well.let it come to a boil.

Lastly add the coconut milk and salt to taste.
