Cottage cheese green peas and Bell pepper stir fry

Here is a recipe of cottage cheese/ paneer with peas and Bell pepper, a very basic and simple recipe using spices and Chinese five spice powder.


400 gms cottage cheese/ paneer

Chopped into small cubes

2 onions finely chopped

4 tomatoes finely chopped

2 green chilies finely chopped

1/2 tsp chili powder

1/2 tsp coriander powder

1/2 tsp pepper powder

1/2 tsp Chinese five spice powder

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1/2 cup finely chopped coriander leaves

1 tbsp dry Fenugreek leaves /dry kasuri methi

Salt to taste

3 cups water


Once oil is hot enough, saute the finely chopped onions till brown. Add the tomatoes , green chilies and stir fry ,add a little bit of salt and 1 cup water. Cook covered till tomatoes are soft and done . Mix in the green peas and 1 cup water , allow to cook on medium flame. Next add the spices and stir fry . Add the chopped cottage cheese , 1 cup water and 1 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves.

Allow to cook for a minute. Add the chopped bell pepper, salt to taste . Cook for 10 mins. Lastly add the finely chopped coriander leaves and dry Fenugreek leaves. Cook for 5 mins.
