Tomato Rice / Pulao

This pulao /rice is made with tomatoes , ready to use pasta /pizza sauce and mix dry herbs. This pulao can be perfectly paired with some raita or fried chicken or any gravies.



For the Tomato Rice Ingredients 2 cups of basmati rice Wash and soak well for 15 mins 3 tbsp ready to use pasta / pizza sauce ( Dr Otekars pasta and pizza sauce) 2 tomatoes finely chopped 1 tbsp dry mix herbs Hot water

Salt only if required 1/2 cup finely chopped coriander leaves


Method To a pan add 2 tbsp clarified butter. Saute the finely chopped tomatoes, cook till soft. Next add the pasta sauce and cook for a minute. Add in the dry herb mix and rice . Mix well. Add the hot water, approximately 1 inch above the rice . Add salt if required. Let it come to a boil. Then lower the flame, cook covered till done. Lastly add the finely chopped coriander leaves.


PS. I have used minimal salt as the pasta/pizza sauce contain salt .
