A simple lunch and love this kind of meal , comfort food must say.
Cabbage Peas Foogath Recipe
Ingredients
500 gms Cabbage chopped
4 to 5 green chillies finely chopped
6 cloves garlic mashed along with skin
1/2 tsp pepper powder
1 veg stock cube
100 gms fresh green peas
2 onions sliced
1/4 tsp lime juice
Method
To the hot oil ,add mashed garlic cloves. Once it starts to splutter add the sliced onions and green peas .
Stir fry the green peas and onions on medium flame.
After a minute, stir frying occasionally and the pepper powder , finely chopped green chillies, crumbled stock cube.
Stir fry for a minute, then add the chopped up cabbage and stir fry.
Do not add any water. Keep stir frying.
After 2 minutes switch has off
Lastly add 1/4 tsp lime juice.
( If you like to add coconut , add about 1/4 cup fresh coconut, I did not add coconut)
For the dal
Ingredients
300gms tuvar dal/pigeon pea
1/4 tsp cumin seeds
1/4 tsp mustard seeds
1 tomato finely chopped
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp pepper powder
5 green chillies
1 tsp East Indian Bottle Masala powder
salt to taste
1/4 cup coriander leaves finely chopped
I took 300 gms tuvar dal and soaked in water for 3 hrs after washing well.
Then boil the dal till done .
To the hot oil ,add 1/ 4 tsp cumin seeds and 1/4 tsp mustard seeds.
Once it starts to splutter add the 1 finely chopped tomatoes and stir fry.
Add 1 tsp ginger garlic paste and salt.
Stir fry till tomatoes are soft. Mix in 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp pepper powder, 5 green chillies finely chopped and 1 tsp East Indian Bottle Masala.
Add some amount of water and cook for a minute.
Then add the boiled dal and water if required.
Salt if required and 1/4 cup finely chopped coriander leaves.
