Besan Rawa Laddus

Updated: Oct 28

Besan rawa laddus are yummy laddus prepared with gram flour and fine semolina along with powdered sugar , clarified butter and cardamom powder. A sweet delicious Indian sweet prepared during festive season. One of my all time favourite.

Ingredients

2 cups Besan/ gram flour

1 cup fine semolina/rawa 3/4 cup pure ghee melted or 1 cup (read the tip mentioned below) 1 1/2cup powdered sugar 11/2tsp cardamom powder

Method

On completely low flame roast the fine rawa till aroma arises remove and keep aside.

Roast the gram flour on completely low flame till you get the aroma. This takes at least 5 to 10 minutes .

Then add a tbsp at a time ghee to the gram flour / besan. And keep stirring.

I did not use the whole 1 cup melted ghee. I totally used just 3/4 cup of ghee.it forms a pasty mixture. Keep stirring this mixture on low flame for at least 5 minutes.

Remove from the flame. Mix in the powdered sugar, cardamom powder and roasted ground rawa

Mix well . Form into balls when the mixture is warm.

Tips: Always add a tbsp of ghee at a time to the besan You may not always need the whole 1 cup ghee to form ladoos

Though I put 1 cup ghee .I used only 3/4cup to stir fry the besan for 5 mins

This 3/4 cup ghee was enough to form perfect balls.

If the ladoos do not form and your mixture feels dry. You can always melt (heat) a 1/4 cup ghee and add one tbsp at a time and after each addition try to mix and form the ladoos.

Secondly in case your mixture is too runny don't worry , roast some more besan and add to the runny mixture . You will b able to form ladoos.
